Oh man the first episode of Persona and BY GOD IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Even the OP, "Pursuing My True Self" by Shihoko Hirata, was nice and upbeat and had a very mysterious yet chic ting to it, very conducive to the shows atmosphere, but the english speaking was choppy at best lol. Now I don't know anything about the video game except that it does indeed exist. That aside, I'm as clueless as a jack-o-lantern in August. So, if you are like me, we'll ride this out together. If you aren't like me and are an avid fan then HOPEFULLY, I can do it slight justice. That is my disclaimer.
Now I don't know about everyone else but that bird cooing going on when Narukami gets off the train.... I guarantee that was the same BGM in Oni-Musha 2 on the way up to the gold mine. I'd know it anywhere as I trained and spammed for gold there. Now that THATS out of the way...
I really like Narukami's character. He is concise and bada$s, and very lone wolfish. Everything about him speaks quiet confidence. The voice acter's voice really appealed to me.I imagine he will be the hero of heroes, like that one guy that comes through no matter what, a trump card if you will.
Then there's Satonaka. Very up beat and high strung. She likes kung-fu movies so she's a buff of martial arts, maybe even trained in a martial art herself? Perfectly complements Narukami's solemn nature. I think they may be love interests for eachother? Wishful thinking? I don't care! I want to see it. She's a precocious cutey with a short fuse, what's not to love? Not to mention the green jacket, I'm digg'n it.
Amagi is Satonaka's rock. When Satonaka is getting too ferocious, Amagi is there to ground her. Alternatively without Satonaka Amagi would never break out of her shell of calm serenity. Now I know were only one episode in and that was heavily over-speculated, but I'm confident that this is the nuts and bolts of their relationship. She's a reserved rose, what more could you ask for. She has an air of aristocracy and is polite, with Satonaka at her side we have a tandem born in heaven.
And then there was Hanamura. I'm gonna bet he'll be our comic relief for the series, if him almost peeing his pants and running around like a banshee, in what I'll call for now the realm of Persona, wasn't evidence enough. He seems likable and is what I can only describe to be, what Satokana is to Amagi, a way to get Narukami out of his introspective world. We'll see if they do the whole, "I'm not reliable the whole show and now I will come through for everyone!" not that I'd mind it. That came to mind after he tried to haul some major a$s when giving Satonaka her broken kung-fu DVD. I used to do the same thing. Give teachers my binder and then leave because it was missing five sixths of the papers and I didn't want to get hassled :P
We got this chick who seems to be the love interest of Hanamura. Her name is Konishi and tends to have a look on her face like she's either just woken up, or just got done hanging out with Snoop Dogg, either or. Still after seeing a murder so disturbing a detective throws up(albeit a rookie detective) isn't she allowed to be a bit on the lethargic, mentally exhausted side? haha I jest. Still I don't imagine she'll be as important as the above named four. But I think she is the one on those t.v. fantasy trips Narukami is seeing, so I'm not exactly sure what's going on yet. I think Hana asking her to something where tickets are required(concert?) is a hint that where ever and when ever those two go, sh*t will hit the fan. Too bad Hana's date is destined for disaster....
Awwwww! Little bashful Nanako. How could we forget? So far she is just a doll. Her little singing along with the jingle playing on the T.V. hurt my heart it was so cute lol. I think she retains her detective father's innocence not allowing for him to delve on the suffering and evil too long. Without knowing it she assuages her dad's stress.
Dojima, the driving force behind solving the murders going on. I imagine while the students solve the murder mystery through "Persona world" He'll be solving it along side them but in "real life"(a concept that the penguin looking guy already played with earlier) where at some point they'll meet at a cross road. What happens at that cross is anyones call for now.
With a limo driving out of the fog, a guy that looks like a goblin/penguin, and a sultry woman full of enigmatic word play the role they will come to play is a mystery to me. Maybe they'll explain the whole Persona idea? I'm not sure....And I like it that way.
As for this room I know only that a few years ago I saw like 3 seconds of gameplay and saw someone blow their brains out. I thought they were gonna start hanging them selves lol like suicide gets them out of that world or something. The room felt like a set up...Like in saw where you see the devices and get creative guessing what their for.
You got this bear beast thing I'll call Teddie. He gave Narukami the glasses so maybe the bear can spot good talent? I dunno. I just know he'll probably help these noobs get their feet wet.
Then you have cards and energy and "Personas" kicking giant tongue things a$ses. Thats about what it came down to at the end. I'll have to wait to know what's going on but I am HOOKED!
I am thoroughly enjoying it thus far, could end up being my favorite.
-Relic P.S. I watched everything thats come out so far. I'm waiting for guilty crown and a few others to find out if and what I'll dedicate myself to blogging. So far Tamayura Hitose really got to me, I'm a sucker for tragedy, heart warming moments, slice of life, and shows I strongly relate to which is why that show tears me up. Chihayafuru is also solemn and Anohana-ish so I love it just as much. BUT I don't know how fun or entertaining that will be to blog. Still I want to get a type of each show. A comedy, a horror, a mystery, a slice of lifer, and an action. So I got Boku Wa which I liked that I'll blog tomorrow(I already got the pics ready) for a comedy/romance, Persona is horror/mystery, Mirrai Nikki is horror/psychological(pretty much like Persona). Those three I'm excited about and have to do but not enough variety. I will need a slice of lifer like Tamayura. Then a good action so probably Guiultycrown, then Ika Musume for comedy....Thats what I'm thinking about investing in but we'll see! I also LOVE Bakuman.....I dunno this double booking on Thursday is already sort of over-whelming.... We'll see! enjoy the pics! Alot of effort is put into doing them, HOURS!!!!! :)
